William Leonard Roberts II was born in Clarksdale, Mississippi, and raised in Carol City, Florida. He has two brothers, who he says were involved with the local drug trade.
After his older brother died of a cocaine overdose that had been laced with gunpowder, Ross decided to pursue rapping after seeing Tupac Shakur’s performance at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta.
