The eldest son of a Jamaican mother and Panamanian father, Greg Jackson, Bashar Barakah Jackson was born on July 20, 1999, in Brooklyn, New York City. Pop’s father is of Panamanian descent, while his mother is Jamaican. The rapper grew up in the residential neighborhood of Canarsie. He has an older brother named Obasi.
Growing up in Canarsie, Brooklyn, Jackson attended nine different schools and as a child, he enjoyed playing the African drums at his local church. Jackson was expelled from eighth grade for bringing a gun to school and spent two years on house arrest after being charged with possessing a weapon.
