Jon Favreau was born Jonathan Kolia Favreau on October 19, 1966, in Flushing, Queens, New York.
When he was nine years old, his mother, Madeleine, died of leukemia and his father, Charles, worked as a special education teacher.
He spent his childhood in the affluent neighborhood of Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. He was educated at The Bronx High School of Science and graduated in 1984. In 1987, he enrolled at Queens College as a pre-engineering major but dropped out to work for Bear Stearns.
